Awash is what also happened at midday when a mini monsoon occurred, play had to be suspended for an hour or so but thanks to the fantastic green staff who came to the rescue, play resumed and tee times nearly caught up with the original play.
There were 64 teams this year and every team made an effort with pink certainly being the colour of the day.
The on course quiz proved to be a challenge once more with some hilarious answers, Betty`s famous pink quiz raised over £500 prior to the competition, May Austin baked and baked pink goodies , the ongoing raffle and the star prize raffle at the end of the night kept the pink theme momentum building.
The competition this year raised £ 5000 for Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary Breast Cancer Care. A huge thank you to all who helped on the day,  contributed prizes or made donations to make the competition such a success.

Latest Open Competition was the Chuil Mhor Quaich played on sunday the 6th May…beautiful weather mirrored the scoring as home team of I Elslie, JM Fuller, P Jones and M Robertson came in with the magnificent score of 51.8…...14 birdies   WOW!!!

The very popular Auld Alliance was played on sat 21st April with Dalbeattie couple I Graham and J Thomson winning the event with 40points

On Saturday the 11th February the club held a Casino night. A first for the club, the Casino night was very well attended, with 100 people enjoying a meal, and a wee go on the Casino tables.

]]> Ladies fundraiser 26th Jan   *****pictures added***** tag:lochmabengolf.co.uk,2011:index.php/3.105 2011-10-25T18:17:14Z 2012-01-30T20:49:15Z Jane and Jackie pulled it off again….around 90 ladies attended the Nelson Brown hair night, with Sandra Galligan being chosen out of the hat to have her hair styled by Nelson. The night was a huge success, helped out by some very generous raffle prizes, with a grand total of £650 raised towards the ladies Breast Cancer Charity fund.  Jackie and Jane would like to thank all of those who helped, and of course a huge huge thanks to Nelson and his team.

The day began with father and son raising the Lochmaben Golf Club flag to announce the opening of the 2011 season.
A win for the Captain on what was probably the best day of the year so far. A great turn out by members and the course was in superb condition.
A very special day for the Captain, Jimmy Lennox, accompanied by his dad, Noel Lennox, who was the club captain 40 years ago to the day.

Many of Maitland Pollocks mini golfers joined the 2009 prizewinners, along with several parents and friends, for a fun evening involving quizzes and games.Congratulations to Taylor Edwards the 2009 junior champion, as well as all of the other worthy winners. It was encouraging to see so many young golfers in the clubhouse, hopefully they will all be competing for prizes next season.

This is not new news, but some photos have just been unearthed, and are worthy of sharing!!

]]> Course improvement phase 2 tag:lochmabengolf.co.uk,2009:index.php/3.6 2009-09-28T13:41:37Z 2009-10-11T20:02:38Z Work has started this week(28th September) on the remaining greens requiring the “drill and fill” treatment. Following the very successful works that were carried out last winter, the programme has been scheduled earlier this year to allow time for grass seed to germinate and establish before winter weather stalls growth. An encouraging number of volunteers have been recruited to help with the works, and thanks go to everyone involved in the project for their time and efforts. Members should be made aware that these works have priority on the course and your patience is greatly appreciated.
We can now look forward to all greens being slick and smooth next season.
