Juniors
The Club has a thriving Junior Section.
We have developed a pathway to chart progression & create a friendly & fun atmosphere for kids to learn & develop.
As regards coaching we provide coaching with in the Club this is a vital starting point in the pathway. It is based getting youngsters course ready & coaching the basics to help the youngsters improve & enjoy their Golf. This is primarily carried out under the watchful eyes of Maitland Pollock who is a level 3 Golf Coach. As the youngsters progress we also ensure that they get access to all the additional coaching opportunities that are provided by the local Golf association’s.
We have recently developed an area within the course to enable us to give some more comprehensive coaching & create an area where juniors can practice & hone their skills.
The coaching sessions take place on Saturday or Sunday evenings through out the Golf season to book a place or register an interest please contact Maitland Pollock on 01387 810818.
As part of our pathway we structure our Junior Medals & competitions to make it fun & accessible for all to come & enjoy the challenge of beating your previous performances or lifting silverware.
The Junior Medals & competitions mainly take place on Saturday mornings.
The youngsters start off playing in the Tiger’s section playing Flag competitions where they get 50 shots to play around a shortened course & see how far they can get each week from this they then progress to playing 18 holes.
18 hole players play from the Ladies tees until they can achieve a Handicap of 28 & then move back to the Gents tees thereafter.
The Section actively participates in the Dumfriesshire Junior League & for the younger ones the Dumfriesshire Golf 6’s League which is a fun format both these formats give our youngsters the chance to compete against & socialise with Juniors from other local clubs.
We also have many fun & different competitions through out the season with one the highlights of our season being our Ryder Cup Juniors v Adults challenge match.
